The Drayton Valley Industrial Airport (C-YDC)

 

Location: The Drayton Valley airport is located approximately 14 miles West of your home. The exact location of the field is 53 degrees 13 minutes north latitude, 114 degrees 98 minutes West longitude.

Drayton Valley airport is 2,750 Ft. above seal level

The airport is a 24 hr. facility offering V.F.R & I.F.R non-radar flight rules. An I.L.S. approach system is in operation

Size and capacity: The current runway runs north to south, and has recently been upgraded to 4,500 Ft. with a 600 Ft. run-off apron.

The airport has airplane parking area, a terminal building, and all fuel services are available. This airport can accommodate every type of private aircraft including business jet traffic. The major oil companies that operate out of Drayton Valley routinely use this airport for their transportation needs.

Specifications: The Drayton Valley Airport is a single runway field. Runway 36, runs north and south. There are no restrictions on aircraft weight and passenger load factors. The runway is equipped with runway identification lights.

Operating Environment: There are no noise abatement procedures for the airport. Departure is the standard turn out rule. Arrival on runway 36 is standard approach rules for an uncontrolled airport.

Edmonton International Airport (C-YEG)

The Edmonton International Airport is approximately 65 miles East of your home. It is a comfortable 1hr,10min. drive to the main terminal through rich and varied farmland.

  • The runways can accommodate any size of aircraft. In fact, the Antonov, the world's largest cargo carrier, has used Edmonton International Airport on several occasions.
  • No restrictions on aircraft weight and passenger load factors.

Aprons: The airport has three aprons:

Apron 1 is located directly in front of the air terminal building, covering an area of 672,000 FT2. This apron contains sixteen aircraft parking positions with an additional two for General Aviation parking.

Apron 2 is located Northeast of the terminal building covering an area of 277,600FT2. This apron is a common used ramp for general aviation aircraft, military and courier operations.

Apron 3 is dedicated to cargo operations and large aircraft maintenance hangers, and is located in the Airlinks Cargo Park adjacent to Runway 02/20. It is 164,000 FT2 of concrete ramp & taxiway designed for the heaviest of freighter aircraft.

Navigational and Landing Aids

  • Edmonton International Airport offers 24 hour service to accommodate and aircraft at any time.
  • The Edmonton Area Control Centre is part of the airport's operation facility. This Centre provides both radar Instruments flight Rules (IFR) control services to all aircraft operating in controlled airspace, and to aircraft operating under Visual Flight Rules. (VFR).
  • Edmonton International Airport is also the base for the Western Region Area Control.
